There are three main reasons for chemical cleaning

•
Control or prevent corrosion on new pipe work and other metal surfaces
•
Improve heat flow: e.g.: Heat exchangers, Reboilers, Condensers, Coolers, Boilers, etc
•
Post Service cleaning – Maintenance cleaning to maximise efficiency – Petro-Chemical & chemical plants, etc.

Chemical cleaning consists basically of one or more of following processes:

•
Degreasing: Removal of light oil or grease contamination
•
De-carbonising: Removal of oil, grease, tar or organic matter that has been carbonised onto the metal surfaces by high temperatures.
•
Acid cleaning: Removal of rust, calcium or other inorganic compounds that may occur. E.g.: Cooling water systems etc
